Safe Schools and Parent Council Minutes November 5th 2025

Present:  Vanessa Ius, Stephanie Bouchard, Kathy Bauman, Victoria Clark, Rachel Becker, Randy Eastman, Carrie Goldsmith, Brandon Hastie, Jessica Hastie, and Shalyn Sulkye

Discussed the three groups that are in our school, LGBTQ Culture Group, Leadership Group, and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Belonging Group

Steph wrote a draft Safe Schools Anti-bullying plan to share with staff soon for feedback

Zones of Regulation continuing

Starting second group of Outdoor Education programs on Fridays

In the Know lessons happening for 6 weeks, 6 students, all about boundaries

What to do when your temper flares groups start after Zones. It walks students through their emotions when angry and gives explicit teaching for what to do

Gr. 3 afternoons .5 LTO and SpecEd/Gr. 4-5 1.0 LTO are being hired for now

New desks have arrived and are in classrooms

Attack Game was a huge success, students well behaved and had a lot of fun

208 families out to the Meet the Teacher Open House!

Four new registrations in the last two weeks and two more coming

Projections going in for KGN for next year

School Council: 

Sunday Updates rather then monthly newsletter for the school

Prestige Fundraising is for the learning lounge (The Foxes Den) and technology with a focus on buying outdoor equipment and computers - Fundraiser Open until November 24th and delivery will be December 3rd and snow date December 5th.

Looking into getting a Lottery License for a Cash Calendar for the month of February

Outside Cameras - We are on the list to get cameras, we have had a lot of vandalism particularly to the gate on the north side of the property

Construction still to be completed and we are on a list

Mrs. Knoll’s class will be displaced or a day or two to put in smaller sink and toilet

Getting a mat for the foyer with our logo on it

PIC funding needs to be applied for by December 5th

Ideas for PIC this year? A speaker? An option to join online? Hannah Beach? Bully Be Gone? Presentation on Social Media, The White Hatter? Centres on Zones of Regulation?

Holiday Dinner December 5th - Food will be cooked at the Legion volunteers will be going to the Legion Thursday Dec. 4th 10:00am to volunteer to peel potatoes, cook the turkey… Waiting to hear back from Exceldor about turkey donations including one Halal turkey, the Legion Auxiliary ladies will be invited to attend the event

Food will be turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, gravy, juice boxes – gluten and dairy free options

Food will be served at 11:00 on the 5th. Steph. will page classes and send out a schedule

We are looking for large food warmers/servers

We will be playing holiday music

HOT DOG DAY! December 2nd, January 20th, February 17th, April 1st, May 19th, June 16th - every third Tuesday after that  (Not March Break) - Money goes toward Foxes Den, Outdoor Learning supplies and Computers  - on school cash online only and parents will cook the hot dogs in the school and they  will be served during first break. $2.00 per hot dog, Student volunteers will go around with Ketchup, Mustard, Relish   Snow Day plans to come

Holiday Concert - Parent council would like to sell Lantz’s popcorn to be purchased that night - 75 bags will be available

Candy Cane Grams in December - Student volunteers to ribbon them, the week of the Holiday Concert, $1 per cane (from Dec. 8th to the 12th)
