Jennifer DeBlock is one of those rare gems who does everything for everyone else and never expects a thing in return. After making the brave leap to Kindergarten last year from teaching older grades, she is an essential part of the heartbeat of Hanover Heights. As a dynamic teaching partner to Laurie Jarvis and a dedicated mom to two busy, sports-loving boys, Jen somehow manages to pour the same energy, joy, and care into her classroom as she does into cheering from the sidelines. Whether she’s organizing monthly assemblies, running high jump practice, planning the Terry Fox Run, managing Kindergarten Orientation, or adding sparkle to the Holiday Concert, Jen does it all—with heart, humour, and humility. She’s constantly learning and growing, participating in professional development like the Writing Revolution book study and bringing the most current, effective math and literacy strategies into her classroom. Her students adore the engaging activities she plans, and her colleagues are endlessly grateful for the way she jumps in to help wherever needed—and makes us all laugh while she’s at it.
