Amy Paterson, one of Hanover Heights’ invaluable Grade 6 teachers, pours heart and talent into every corner of school life. Tirelessly available to her students, she captivates their curiosity with engaging lessons and cherishes each handmade gift they bring her. Colleagues know her for Tim’s runs and for stepping up to organize everything from weekly pizza days—handling orders, volunteers, and delivery—to Primary Play Day, providing helpers for bus-evacuation drills, taking care of the details for Swim to Survive, and helping with Track and Field meets. As an EQAO teacher, she sharpens academic excellence, yet she also offers the warmth needed by students who crave extra love and attention, guiding them through their days. Amy also steps up to organize GrandPals, graduation, special trips, and the Grade 6 transition to JDSS. Beyond the classroom, Amy spends countless evenings at the pool or ball diamond cheering on her two children, and even a broken ankle from an icy driveway couldn’t slow her spirit—she simply basked in the outpouring of help and kept giving back. Forever honing her craft through literacy and math professional development, she embodies the ideal of a lifelong learner, doing whatever needs to be done to keep Hanover Heights thriving.
